Viagra Possible Interactions

Do not take Viagra with related medications like tadalafil (Cialis) or vardenafil (Levitra).

Do not use Viagra if you are also using a nitrate medicine for chest ache or heart troubles, including nitroglycerin (Nitrostat, Nitrolingual, Nitro-Dur, Nitro-Bid, Minitran, Deponit, Transderm-Nitro), isosorbide dinitrate (Dilatrate-SR, Isordil, Sorbitrate), and isosorbide mononitrate (Imdur, ISMO, Monoket), or recreational medicines such as amyl nitrate or nitrite ("poppers").

Before using Viagra, inform your health care professional about every additional medications you use for erectile dysfunction, or if you are using whichever of the following medicines:

  • bosentan (Tracleer); 
  • cimetidine (Tagamet, Tagamet HB); 
  • conivaptan (Vaprisol); 
  • diclofenac (Arthrotec, Cataflam, Voltaren, Flector Patch, Solareze); 
  • imatinib (Gleevec); 
  • isoniazid (for treating tuberculosis); 
  • rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane); 
  • an antidepressant equivalent to nefazodone; 
  • an antibiotic like clarithromycin (Biaxin), dalfopristin/quinupristin (Synercid), erythromycin (E.E.S., EryPed, Ery-Tab, Erythrocin) or telithromycin (Ketek); 
  • an antifungal treatment such as clotrimazole (Mycelex Troche), itraconazole (Sporanox), ketoconazole (Nizoral), or voriconazole (Vfend);
  • heart or blood pressure remedy corresponding to diltiazem (Cardizem, Dilacor, Tiazac), doxazosin (Cardura), nicardipine (Cardene), quinidine (Quinaglute, Quinidex, Quin-Release), or verapamil (Calan, Covera, Isoptin,Verelan); 
  • HIV/AIDS medicine similar to atazanavir (Reyataz), delavirdine (Rescriptor), fosamprenavir (Lexiva), indinavir (Crixivan), nelfinavir (Viracept), saquinavir (Invirase), or ritonavir (Norvir).
